HANA Concert at the Teragram Ballroom

I used to go to a lot of concerts. I go to fewer now – usually only when I’m already a big fan of the performer. So when I heard that one of my favorite singers, HANA, was playing a rare show at the Teragram Ballroom, I bought a ticket as quickly as I physically could. The show was 2018-08-10.

HANA, real name Hana Pestle, is an incredible musician who I’d heard of originally due to her association with Grimes – they’re friends and, I think, were roommates at one time. But I quickly came to love Hana all on her own. She’s got one of the best, most powerful voices, and her songs are haunting and beautiful.

The lighting was so cool. Even better: a snippet of her singing!

Afterwards I ran back to the booths near the entrance, away from the stage, because I’d been to Teragram before and knew that sometimes singers are back there – and also she mentioned she might hang around.

There was a small line to talk to her – she had a few fans, she’s popular! – and then I finally got to chat with her for a while. I was a little overwhelmed with excitement but I think we talked about Zelda and who knows what else. She was excited that I came just for her performance.

And just to geek out further, she autographed my wristband and even commented on the Instagram post I made about the night.

This was definitely up there as one of my top concerts of all time (along with Grimes, Ke$ha, Kreayshawn, and Of Montreal, maybe others). I can’t wait for the next HANA concert.
