Pattern Description
This one is not really a pattern, so I debated including it in this collection or not. However, the gold foil does constitute a security measure, making the envelope more opaque and thus more resistant to being peered through against strong light.
Of course, this is an envelope for a birthday card or the like, which is already enclosed and provides its own security–and doesn’t really need much security anyway. So the effect here is obviously for decoration, rather than protection.
Knowing that most people open their letters without ever seeing much of the interior of the envelope, instead just slicing open the top, one wonders if the decoration is also meant to be a selling point, doing more to attract the eye of the sender who purchases it rather than the receiver.
The “Signature” branding and crown logo is impressed into the paper and inner foil, appearing reversed here since it’s the back view, in a nice all-caps serif font. The foil is highly reflective and of a satisfying weight.
