Pattern Description
I love this pattern. It’s made entirely of tightly packed parallel lines arranged into interlocking hexagons, each one striped in a way that reads as three facets meeting at center points.
Because those facets are all shaded with directional line work rather than flat tone, the hexagons pop forward and read almost as cubes stacked in three dimensions, an illusion that holds as your eye moves across the whole surface. Alternatively, it seems like there are three layers of honeycomb structure, each at different positions underneath each other.
The hexagons tile edge to edge with total regularity, so the pattern functions as a honeycomb grid built entirely out of line density and direction rather than color or shading. It’s a classic bit of repeated geometric trickery.
